Annual Sports Gala

The Annual Sports Gala is the University of Okara's grandest inter-departmental athletic spectacle, bringing together thousands of energetic students, faculty members, and staff for an exhilarating multi-day celebration of athletic competition and sportsmanship. Organized under the Directorate of Sports, the gala commences with an inspiring torch-lighting ceremony, vibrant departmental march-past, and competitive track and field showdowns. From high-octane 100-meter sprints, cricket derbies, and soccer clashes to tug-of-war battles and indoor tournaments, the Sports Gala reflects the University of Okara's unwavering commitment to holistic student development and vibrant campus life.

Gala Overview & Festivities

The Sports Gala is inaugurated by the Worthy Vice Chancellor alongside university deans, departmental chairs, and celebrated national sports heroes. Each academic department participates with distinctive colorful tracksuits, banners, and student contingents. The event fosters mutual camaraderie, leadership, discipline, and healthy living across the entire university community.

Inter-Departmental Championships & Disciplines

Students compete across male and female categories in diverse sporting events including: • Athletics: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100m Relay, Hurdles • Jumps & Throws: Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw • Team Outdoor Sports: Tape-ball & Hard-ball Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Tug-of-War • Indoor & Racquet Sports: Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Arm Wrestling • Fun & Traditional Sports: Sack Race, Three-Legged Race, Slow Cycling

Awards, Honors & Varsity Team Trials

Winners and runners-up are awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, merit certificates, and cash prizes during the Grand Closing Ceremony. Top performing athletes are awarded the 'Best Athlete of the Year' title. Furthermore, standout athletes are selected to represent the University of Okara in national Higher Education Commission (HEC) Inter-University Championships and Prime Minister Youth Sports Initiatives.
