UO VC's Special Message at Intl. Day of Education!
Inclusive & Equitable Education can end poverty: Dr Zakar
Only the inclusive and equitable education can lead towards bridging gender discrimination and building up a society free of poverty, diseases and injustice, said the University of Okara’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, in his special message at the eve of the International Day of Education.
He told that our youth by thousands was struggling for quality life and bright future but that could not be made possible without the provision of quality education to all.
He further elaborated that in the COVID-stricken world, the need for inclusive education had increased manifold and the universities should have chalked out plans to include maximum of the youth in the educational mainstream.
Explaining the mission of the University of Okara, Dr Zakar stated, “This university is open for all classes and creeds and we make no discrimination in the provision of enrollment opportunities on the basis of socio-economic or cultural backgrounds”.
The VC further said that the UO administration had initiated a Community Outreach Program with an aim to reach out to the downtrodden of the society and aware them to send their daughters and sons for higher education.
The United Nations commemorates January 24 as International Day of Education every year to mark the importance of equal opportunities of education for all. The theme of this year is ‘Recover and Revitalize Education for the COVID-19 Generation’.
