University of Okara’s constituted Academic Council had their first meeting under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zakria Zakar on September 10 and deliberated on various key issues including infrastructural and academic development, starting of new departments and programs and provision of better facilities to students.
After joining the OU as pioneer Vice Chancellor, Dr. Zakar formulated the Academic Council as a unanimous body to discuss academic matters, give necessary recommendations and provide viable solutions.
Addressed to the opening meeting of the body, the VC told that all the decisions would be taken with consensus and academic council would work as an empowered and democratic body. He further said that he would take all on board in every decision and concerns and reservations would be properly addressed.
The council approved the creation of the Faculty of Computing with a number of new academic programs to meet the rapidly changing world of Information Technology.
The reconstruction and innovation of the infrastructure to better facilitate the students and teachers was also an agenda item of the meeting. Moreover, the VC stressed the need of strictly following the Higher Education Commission standards while designing academic programs and their curriculum.
